20th Anniversary Summer Spud Mixed Bonspiel

The 20th and final Summer Spud Mixed Bonspiel was held August 6th to 9th, 2009. The event grew steadily from 32 teams in 1990 to a record 60 teams in 2009. Participants this year came from seven provinces and four states.

Rustico Resort and Clyde River hosted the golf tournament, which was won by the foursome of Al Corbeil, Sue Froud, Steve Elder and Licia Elder.
The Crapaud Curling Club hosted the three day curling bonspiel. Congratulations to the team of Bill Hope, Sandra Hope, Tom Allore and Maureen Allore, who won the main event for the second straight year. Prince Edward Island artist Jo Edge painted a 8' by 4' Mural to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Summer Spud. The mural will be permanently displayed at the South Shore Actiplex, next to the Crapaud Curling Club. The following people were recognized with Eric Murray Memorial Volunteer Awards: |
